The Neuschwanstein Castle is located at only 3 km away from the touristic town of Fussen in Bavaria.

The castle is is also very close to Munich, the capital of Bavaria.

Getting there:

So if you want to get to the Neuschwanstein Castle, your best bet would be to get to Fussen before.

BY PLANE / TRAIN: From Munich, you have a train every two hours to Fussen.

BY CAR: Or if you are by car, take theA 96 highway, and leave at Landsberg Ost and follow the B 17 road.

To get from Fussen to the Neuschwanstein Castle, take the Bus no 73 or 78.

Neuschwanstein Castle Tour - Tickets & Opening Times

You can visit Neuschwanstein castle during the following hours:

Between April and September: 9:00 – 18:00
Between October and March: 10:00 – 16:00

A ticket for the Neuschwanstein castle only costs €9, and for people over 65, students and disabled persons, it is €8.

Guided tours in English are also available. Also there are audio guided tours in, French, Spanish, Japanese, Italian, Czech, Slovenian, Russian, Polish, Chinese, Portuguese and Hungarian. A tour of Neuschwanstein lasts usually 30 minutes.

Tickets can be bought in Hohenschwangau, so you will need to buy these before climbing to the Neuschwanstein Castle.
